For those new to infrared therapy, it can take time for your body to adjust. During the first sessions some people elicit a shallow sweat. No need to worry. Give your body time to acclimatise to infrared and ensure that you stay hydrated.
With more use you’ll notice a deep, purifying sweat and an invigorating feeling afterward.
There is no one answer for the amount of sessions per week, but infrared saunas are safe to use every day.
In fact, you will see wellness improvements sooner if you use it daily.
On average, most people partake in 30-45 minute sessions, 3-4 times a week. There is no research suggesting any harm from using a sauna every day. Although, there are several common sense precautions like overheating or dehydration.
You will keep sweating for a while as your core body temperature cools. Wipe down with a towel and when ready hop into the shower.
Not only will this feel invigorating and refreshing, it helps cleanse your skin of the toxins you have excreted during your sweat session.
Once you’re done with your shower, it’s time to rehydrate. Your body will lose electrolytes with your sweat. Best to use a sugar-free electrolyte drink to replenish lost fluids without flavourings and unnecessary sweeteners.
TIPS FOR BEFORE YOU SESSION:
- Have a nutritious light meal or snack about 1 hour before your session. A salad or some fresh fruit should do the trick!
- Always drink plenty of water before, during and after your sauna session.
- Remove all makeup to allow your skin to receive the full benefits of
the IR heat during your sauna experience.
- Arrive 5 minutes early. Our staff will get you checked-in, show you to your private room and make sure you know how to work the Smart TV and sauna controls
- What to wear? Lightweight shorts and a tee-shirt are ok. Swimsuits are better. We recommend bringing clothing that is loose fitting and comfortable to put back on after your session—think ‘athleisure’
TIPS FOR DURING YOUR SESSION:
You may notice that it takes 10-20 minutes to break a sweat in your first session.
This is because our saunas are heating your body directly, passively raising your core temperature 2-3 degrees, rather than simply heating your skin with hot air. As your body becomes more accustomed to raising your core temperature on a regular basis, your sweat will become more excessive and start sooner into your session.
- Enjoy some entertainment; Netflix, YouTube or listen to a podcast
- Make use of the Chromotherapy lights. Choose your light color based on your mood.
- Stretch or let your mind melt into a meditative state.
TIPS FOR AFTER YOUR SESSION:
- HYDRATE! HYDRATE! HYDRATE! Your body just flushed out a lot of toxins. Be sure to replenish and rehydrate
- You will keep sweating for a while as your core body temperature cools. Wipe down with a towel and when ready hop into the shower.
