Ill admit, the first time I saw an infrared sauna, I thought the bright coloured fancy lights were just used to draw your eye to the sauna. It wasn't until I started using a sauna that I learnt those lights actually have a real purpose - Chromotherapy.

Also known as colour light therapy, Chromotherapy is the process of restoring balance to the body by applying colour.

It is the use of the visible spectrum to heal the physical, mental and spiritual energy imbalance that tends to lead to disease. It is one of the most holistic and simple methods to cure illness. This healing modality does not require you to consume anything, nor does it require putting anything on your body like an ointment. You simply lay or sit under the desired color. Chromotherapy lights are used in an infrared sauna to achieve the wellness benefits of colour light therapy.

Colour light therapy relies on the premise that each colour is associated with a different bodily response. For example, red is typically associated with stimulation, while blue is considered a mentally relaxing colour.

Colour has been used to treat all kinds of medical conditions since ancient times and dates back to ancient Egypt, India, China, and even as far back as the Mayan culture. Now, the medical benefits of colour light therapy are being investigated and implemented in major hospitals and medical research centres worldwide. Colour light therapy has many benefits, ranging from emotional to physical. Research shows that Chromotherapy benefits can help with reduced swelling and decreased inflammation, pain relief, accelerated healing, increased range of motion, decreased muscle tension, improved circulation, improved sleeping patterns and anti-aging benefits
